Columbia Shuttle #138531 Jan 2005 23:24 GMT8
Anyone here ever built the Estes Columbia kit #1385? I'm in the middle of a
kit bash and got to the point where the instructions say to make a flap on
just one side. That just seems strange to me that you would only do it on
one side. Anyone?

I've always wondered, is the company name pronounced "estis" or "esteez"?
do the regs cover coil guns31 Jan 2005 17:39 GMT63
Anyone ever try to launch using a magnetic coil gun in place of an engine?
The design covers use of a electromagnet, driven by a charged bank of large
capictors, charged using batteries. the rocket would be fitted with aluminum
rings which are shoved by the magnetic field.

kevlar shock cord lengths31 Jan 2005 13:40 GMT2
I've decided to use 1/16" (or 1/8"for larger models) kevlar for shock cords
instead of elastic for my low power rockets.
My question is how long should the kevlar shock cord be?
We are talking about rockets in the 18" to two foot long range, flying on D
Corkscrew in Takeoff31 Jan 2005 13:30 GMT2
I am new to building rockets from scratch.  I built a 18 inch rocket out of
Phenolic Tubing fins out of Carbon fiber.  The fins were on straight as an
arrow.  I designed it in Rocksim and it was stable by all methods.  However
when I shot it off I get a bad corkscrew type motion. ...

flying field for low power rockets.
Anything in Virginia next week?31 Jan 2005 02:52 GMT2
Any thing interesting rocket wise in the middle of Virginia? I'm going to be
in the Charlottesville VA (~100 mi SW of DC) from Feb 7-11.
And for that matter, is there anything going on in the Phoenix / Tucson area
March 25-April 3 around spring break?
[F-FT] Straightening Alpha-III fin can31 Jan 2005 02:51 GMT4
I have a couple of Alpha-III kits for use with student groups.  They
have the orange fin can, but these were apparently stored in such a way
that the fins are significantly warped.  Does anyone have any
suggestions for how to 're-warp' these plastic cans back into place?

I know I will probably  get flamed for this, but hear me out. I got the
demo of spacecad 3.1 and designed a scale harpoon AGM-84 using a cluster of
3 G-75 motors, I tried to use it and noticed it was expired and this weekend
