[F-FT] Stuffer tube problem08 Mar 2005 00:08 GMT29
I have a Super Big Bertha that I've flown a few times.  It was modified
(during construction) to use Estes 'E' size engines.  After only 2-3
flights, I looked inside the engine tube, and noticed that the forward
end of the engine tube (essentially, the 'stuffer tube' portion) was ...

Government Grants?!07 Mar 2005 20:30 GMT6
Sometimes a telemarketer can be useful...for something other than
landfill. In this case I even have to admire the creativity. About 7:30
tonight my phone rings and the caller ID gives a partial number of
001819. Ok, I'm curious so I pick up. Someone with a barely intelligible
[FFT] Cert vs LEUP Q07 Mar 2005 18:22 GMT303
OK, I've been thinking about building a 3 x G64 cluster.  My understanding
is that I need L1 in order to fly it because the total N-sec will be beyond
G.
However to get L1, I can't use the cluster, but have a fly a single motor in

OK, building my 1/4 scale PML Patriot for level 1.  Also building up the
Black Brant Vb in case I chicken out on the Patriot (<G>).
In the instructions for the Patriot, it talks about drilling a bleed
hole for air in the payload section, and it infers that this is to keep
EARS March Launch Photos07 Mar 2005 16:36 GMT1
Just to let you know that I've put up some photos from this Sunday's EARS
launch. It was cold, and sometimes a bit windy, but we flew some rockets and
had a good time too.

NAR section renewal06 Mar 2005 18:54 GMT10
When does the NAR usually send out the section (and insurance) renewal forms.
We always seem to just barely get them, fill them out and return them before
flying season is upon us again.  Also our local park district requires proof of
insurance for our club to fly in their field. ...
Big Brother is watching us06 Mar 2005 18:21 GMT46
Spring training season has brought around another batch of Homeland
Security stuff at work.  This year's production on Improvied Explosive
Devices (IED) use by terrorists was sponsored by the TSA Explosives
Unit and the FAA and sent out through the DHS to those of us in the

Odd-roc parts at Pat Catans06 Mar 2005 16:22 GMT12
If there's anyone out there that's ever considered building an egg
shaped rocket and hasn't yet, well, get yer butt to Pat Catans. Right
now they have plastic easter eggs that measure 16" long. Price, about
$4. More important, they're American made! No Estes out-sourcing to the ...
Rocket Launch Chicago Northwest05 Mar 2005 06:37 GMT3
I have an 11 year-old nephew coming to town this weekend equipped with
the model rocket I gave him for Christmas.  I live in the Northwest
Suburbs of Chicago and would like to know if anyone knows of a place we
can go to launch it.  The rocket is a Big Bertha and we have all of the

[F_FT] Aileron shredding on the ArcieII?05 Mar 2005 02:36 GMT4
Both ailerons popped off on the maiden voyage of my ArcieII.  It still
glides well without ailerons!  8)  It doesn't survive wire fencing
nearly as well.  8(  I'm building a second one now...
Anybody else had this problem?  Any hints for getting good adhesion on
rocketry resources for kids05 Mar 2005 00:29 GMT6
Our group will be doing a short presentation on rockets to local grade school
kids next month.  We will of course mention model rocketry and the local club.
I would like to give the kids a list of books and web sites for them to get
further information.  These will be middle ...
