| What is the correlation between total impulse and gas volume of a BP motor ? | 06 Apr 2005 19:38 GMT | 23 |
Grimly determined to figure out how to use a short-burning BP motor to initiate secondary deployment of a 5.5x upscale Estes Streak I was wondering whether any data are available (google failed, alas) which correlates the volume of

| PML Co-Pilot | 05 Apr 2005 22:58 GMT | 1 |
This goes out to anybody who has experience with the PML Co-pilot altimeter. I am using the co-pilot with the CPR 3000 system. I have been doing some ground testing with the deployment and I am having a little "blow-by" from the ejection charge around the fore & aft o-rings. Is ...

| [F-FT] Single use motor retention | 05 Apr 2005 19:45 GMT | 18 |
Yes, yes, yes. Let's get it out of the way right at the beginning. I realize that you're supposed to use masking tape to make a 'thrust ring' at the rear of the single-use composite motors in order to secure them into the

| Hybrid construction question | 05 Apr 2005 14:46 GMT | 2 |
I'm scratch-building my L1 certification rocket, to be launched on a SkyRipper H155. In reading up on hybrid motors in general, it seems that boil-off from the motor tank is a problem that affects both fill time and (potentially) performance.

| igniter advice needed | 05 Apr 2005 05:37 GMT | 4 |
Made a batck of simple igniters with a firestar kit just for some Estes motors. Used some of the Ted Pella nichrome wire and was using some of the leftover colored Estes igniter retainers. I actually gobbed the pyrogen on thickly. It makes for an impressive igniter test but

| [F-FT] Question on Apogee Medalist motors | 05 Apr 2005 05:36 GMT | 5 |
For the Apogee Medalist motors, which do folks use 'most', or what is the ratio of S/M/L delay engines that you use/purchase? For example, would you use 2 short delay, 3 medium delay, and 1 long delay motor in your normal 'launching ratios'?

| Strange piston deployment behaviour when testing | 05 Apr 2005 03:20 GMT | 2 |
I have tested twice with placing a charge in the rocket, at the top of the fin can, below the PML piston. The first test the charge was small and it push the payload/nose cone off without moving the piston. The second test, I used a bigger charge. The payload/nose cone went flying ...
