Latest commercial outrage28 May 2005 12:50 GMT5
Have you all seen the new Ford commercial?  The one where canoes go out of
control?
We must be outraged!  This commercial clearly disparages canoes, and paints
those who travel with canoes as out of control outlaws!  We should start a

Video overlays etc.27 May 2005 18:10 GMT9
Been working on some software to overlay flight data on video so I
just thought I'd share the results with you guys.  It takes in an RDAS
file and a source of video and you just tell it which frame is t=0.0s.
It would be easy to modify to use other data sources too.
Calling Doug Parks27 May 2005 05:57 GMT2
Has anyone heard from Doug Parks or Rebar Rocketry lately?  I've been trying
to contact them for a month with no response.  Anyone have any contact
information other than what's on the website?

ematches?27 May 2005 05:01 GMT42
As can be seen by my prior post, am trying to explore dual-deployment
options.  For the past two weeks have been doing searches on low current
ematches to deploy the system with 4Fg powder.  My impression is that
most of the low current ematches like Daveyfire have all but ...
Rod exit velocity?26 May 2005 19:41 GMT8
I'm doing some flight simulations for what may be a 'marginal' liftoff
rocket. What's a good value for velocity as the model comes off the launch
rod? It's been too long since I looked at this, but my gut is telling me
that 10 m/s is just too slow.
Help me with a scale project?  Delta II 792526 May 2005 17:11 GMT10
I'm researching a scale project.  I've always loved the rockets with
multiple external boosters and found that the Delta II 7925 was used to put
MER A - Spirit - on Mars.  Looking to make a large ModRoc to small Level 1
size model - about 1/36.
acceleration and average thrust:clusters26 May 2005 15:27 GMT2
Acceleration = Net Force Acting on Rocket / Mass of Rocket
Net Force = Thrust of rocket - weight - drag
In the above equation is thrust of rocket equivalent to average thrust?
In the case of a cluster, would you add or  multiply the thrust of the

Well, we now have legal evidence that model rocket engines are not
explosives:

Tape for small dual deployment25 May 2005 19:32 GMT4
Want to do a G or < size dual deployment model that uses heavy
cardboard tubes.  Instead of shear pins I thought if clear shipping
tape might be workable to hold the electronics section together to the
upper or lower section.  Also which section contains the drogue or does

Pratt Surefire 12 review25 May 2005 14:13 GMT27
I pulled my Pratt Surefire 12 out of storage today. Hadn't used it since
last May. As some of you may recall, this is the same unit my dog urinated
in about 5 years ago. Well, I ran the system check and what do you know, it
still had 13 volts in it. Two hours on the charger and ...
