Old UPS29 Nov 2006 10:21 GMT8
OK, I've got this old 1000 VA UPS that is unreliable as far as powering a
server goes, but it still hold a charge. On the back are several standard US
configured female outlets.
Can I use this as a power supply for launching my rockets? The output is

Grain silos can detonate despite what all of us think...27 Nov 2006 19:25 GMT15
Let's start a list of stuff that can explode, "given just the right conditions",
to help out the retards (apologies to retards, for comparing them to ^H^H^H):
Grain dust...   Gasoline...   Heating Oil...   Kerosene...   Vodka....
Paint thinner...   Deisel fuel...    Acetone...   ...
Phenolic Nozzles and Tubes27 Nov 2006 12:27 GMT1
I understand one can make good nozzles from quartz sand and phenolic
resin. It is also possible to phenolize paper. I would think the latter
would make good and strong rocket casings. (Especially good would be
woven carbon in a phenolic matrix (lightweight and doesn't melt at high
AP can detonate despite what all of us think.25 Nov 2006 18:17 GMT50
I keep seeing posts that say APCP can not detonate.  Well you're all wrong.
It can.  You just have to get it in large enough quantities to sustain a
shock wave.  Rule of thum is motors over 60" dia and several tons are large
enouph to do just that.  Heck, just for grins here is a ...

Capacitor discharge ignition22 Nov 2006 15:25 GMT19
I'm about to start work on a 2.25" 29mm two stager and have been
wondering how I'm going to handle the ignition of the sustainer.  I
could use a commercial rocket timer/stager but the $$$$ is a factor.
I started thinking to myself, exactly how hard would it be to build a

Just curious, has anyone seen any of the old electronics payloads made by
MITS in the 60's-70's era?

ATF can't get the facts straight21 Nov 2006 03:55 GMT95
In the ATF's court filing on 13 October, they claim that the burn rate
of APCP has lower and upper bounds of 36 mm/sec and 143 mm/sec. Which
would yield a maximum burn time for a G40 (they mention a CATO of one in
the report) of about 1/3 of a second. Needless to say, this ...

Email address for Mike Dorffler?16 Nov 2006 21:21 GMT4
Does anybody have a current email address for Mike Dorffler, the seller
of scale data CD sets?  The mkdorffler@earthlink.net address at
http://www.yellowjacketsystems.com/jimball/scale-data/Saturn-CD.pdf
bounces.  Is he still selling data sets?
Honest question: Why do you people take the nonsense from your government16 Nov 2006 20:29 GMT10
No really, I realized I just posted a lot of stuff in that 'range
question' posting and it REALLY is true and from the heart.
The question I have is, why do you people put up with government?
Is it because most of you could NEVER govern your own personal lives?
rocket range?16 Nov 2006 16:26 GMT11
How to calculate the maximum rocket flying range?
Is it able to buy a can of pure oxygen from the internet?
If i want my DIY rocket to fly as far as possible, what fuel i
should use?
