4 ft submarine30 Sep 2003 22:38 GMT4
I have just bought a submarine (second hand and quite old - obviously
scratch built) which purports to be of the static diving type.
There is a small motor operated compressor from which two tubes lead. One
goes to a solid plastic bottle in the bow and the other to a rubber balloon

intend to eventually R/C it currently it has a beautifully engineered vane
steering mechanism. Anyone have the first clue how to use this?

Adhesive query24 Sep 2003 21:07 GMT6
I find that translucent 35mm film boxes (the slightly greasy feeling
plastic type used by Fujii etc) make ideal watertight on/off switch
containers which can be fitted flush to deck on model yachts but I
can't find a reliable adhesive to glue them into the deck and as they

I have had to remove the varnish from an old ten rater deck in order to
restore the wood beneath.
I have then removed some mould with oxalic acid and this has been properly
neutralised with methelated spirit.

When to paint15 Sep 2003 03:50 GMT7
I just bought a Blue Devil  (RC Ship) kit.  I am trying to decide when
to paint it.. do you  paint the decks and hull BEFORE beginning
construction or is it easier to do after?
First model here.. so I am a little lost.
Newbie question about servo response & signals10 Sep 2003 16:34 GMT1
I think I'll get a real radio system, but there's a bit I'd like to know
first.
If I push a control stick to one side and then let it return to the centre,
does the servo track both ways?
Smallish pulleys in UK08 Sep 2003 13:55 GMT1
I'm new to this hobby.
I'm trying to get hold of some model pulley blocks similar to PeKaBe 515 and
525 but from a UK source.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Newbie modeller.. what model?04 Sep 2003 03:49 GMT1
Hi.  I am wondering what would be a good ship to start with for a new
modeller.  A friend of mine made an R/C PT-109.  I really liked his
and want to try one of my own.  I am looking at the Blue Devil
Destroyer based on the size and price... but would like to get input
Where to get lead?02 Sep 2003 04:06 GMT14
I'm looking for lead to cast an 8lb keel for my model boat. Where could
I get this and what is a preferred way to melt it?
Thanks

Newbie question: range of r/c02 Sep 2003 00:49 GMT1
I just built a boat and canabalised the r/c from a toy car I got at a yard
sale for 5$.
Works, but the pond is much bigger than the range of the r/c.
It's a 27mHz thingie.
